Design
Functionality is closely coupled with the beauty of the product. Silhouet-Tone painstakingly explores each facet of every product before we going into production. Naturally concerned that the equipment "keeps its promise" in getting the job done, but ease of use for the operator is an important consideration as well. Finally, beauty is important to us as well. We want each piece of equipment and furniture to grace your salon or spa with an added touch of elegance.
Materials
There is never a compromise in the selection of the materials that Silhouet-Tone uses in upholstering:
- Using only 3/4" (1.9cm) "British Columbia First Pine Select Hardwood" under our cushions, in contrast to the 1/4" (0.63cm) pressboard used by many manufacturers.
- Entry points for all bolts into the hardwood are reinforced by steel plates to protect and guard against instability and wobbling caused by the bolts wearing into the wood.
- The foam used is up to four inches (10.16cm) thick. It is CFC-free, conforming with "American Standards." There are absolutely no fillers (commonly used to reduce costs, but which result in a sagging, lumpy appearance).
- Whisper fabric, used on most of our furniture, exhibits a new bold and deep grain leather pattern, and is of the highest quality of Naugahyde. It is lined with 100% polyester backing to produce an incredibly soft and supple covering. Whisper has the traditional features of Naugahyde: strong and durable (suitable for marine and outdoor seating), easy maintenance, resistant to color fading, manufactured to meet California's "Fire Retardant Law," mildew resistant, UV stable, resistant to drying cracking down to -20 F, easily cleaned with mild soap and water and is antibacterial.
- All Silhouet-Tone esthetic furniture is now made with Whisper fabric. This fabric, which is exceptionally supple, hand made with a double stitched leather pattern is fire resistant, rated Class 1 in California and resists well to abrasions. This fabric is reliable enough to be used in hospitals. Note that we still provide Boltaflex (BL 93 White) and Naugahyde (Seabrook) with a mat texture, for certain chairs.
